About the artist
Roy was born in Yorkshire in 1948 and still lives in the area. Roy served in the Royal Navy for nine years before leaving to persue a career in insurance. In 1993 he was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer, and underwent a long, agonizing, but ultimately successful range of treatment at Killingbeck Hospital, Leeds. Whilst convalescing Roy took up painting as therapy to help him come to terms with his illness. He hasn't stopped painting since,and continues to raise funds for the oesophageal patients' Association and Sue Ryder.
Roy can paint any subject in any medium and accepts commissions. He specialises in Wildlife.
